From the beginning I wanted this board to be as compatible as possible with the CHIP made by NTC. In the process of picking the SoC and going over the different interfaces, I’ve come to my first prototype pinout. Here is what the current pinout looks like. Below I will go over the main differences compared to the CHIP.
Currently the biggest differences between the Nebula One and the original CHIP are:
1. There isn’t any audio output other than an I2S interface built-in.
2. Micro SD storage only.
3. 4 12-Bit ADC’s with 1.8V reference.
4. I2S audio interfacewith MCLK.
5. Beaglebone resources.(Most beaglebone software will be compatible)
These are just a few things that are different between the boards. They both have a similar CPU and GPU as far as performance goes. When I get the prototype boards I will be able to do a more direct comparison. For now the wait continues, until I get some boards.
